Note: This app is not a game. It is an assistant for the well-known board game products from the CATAN world. Do you have Ubongo, Tumult Royale, Imhotep, the nominee for “Spiel des Jahres” or the “Kennerspiel des Jahres” EXIT? You want to learn how to play it but don’t have the time or desire to deal with reading through all the instructions?

Well, how about simply having all the rules explained to you via narrated animations? Learn how to set up the game and get started without reading the rules booklet. Learn other KOSMOS games without reading the manuals.

Note: This app offers additional features for the well-known games from KOSMOS.The app is usually not compatible with Chromebooks.

With audio narrations and 3D animations, this app explains all the rules for the games in an easy, linear manner that requires little reading - including the variations for all the possible numbers of players - so that you can start playing almost immediately!

*** Additional Functions ***
For the EXIT games, you will find a timer including an atmospheric sound track.
In Ubongo, an animated assistant helps you to find the solution to any of the tasks given in the basic game.
Tumult Royale includes a timer that allows you to replace the hourglass included in the game. You can also vary the time allotted for the tax collection phase.

Useful way to learn how to set up Catan for game play. I like that both beginner setup (really helpful for first time play) and variable setup (useful for a more advanced setup after you get the hang of the game) are included. The instructions pause after each step to give the players time to complete the step before pressing next to continue.

Edit: very cool that it's still a work in progress. Will check back in a while. End-edit. Cool that they made a newer version, and the tutorial is great, but this is not an assistant. This is just a tutorial. A good one, but not an assitant. I was looking forward for a 'dice' option. Also some real game "assistant" features would be great - some point counting, including expansions, keeping score for players. Then it would be a real assistant.

Instead of explaining the rules flat out, it makes you setup and play through some of the game slowly explaining it as you go. While I was trying this app my friend read the rulebook and was able to explain the game in 10 min what the app was going to take an hour to do. I would only recommend this if you have a group of people who have all never played, and who also all want to pay attention to the tutorial while it tells you exactly what moves to make for a while.

Very thorough app, but needs an option to fast skip through the dialog. I was looking for an app to go through the details of Catan which were missing from my manual. Only use this app if you've never played Catan before, then it's a great app. In my case it's way easier to download another version of the manual to resolve an edge case.

No other game content than base game Catan. No adaptive app icon, which therefore looks bad. A Catan Big Game can be found through search, but leads to a black screen that is unresponsive; e.g. back navigation doesn't work, locking the user. All in all: unimpressive content and some bad UX.
