- The app's simplicity and ease of use make it accessible to a wide range of users, regardless of their technical skill level, which is a significant advantage in the Tools category.
- The developer, Coolexp, provides a professional website and contact email, indicating a level of transparency and support that is reassuring for users.
- The app requires no permissions, which is a rare and commendable aspect, especially for a tool that could potentially collect sensitive data, thus enhancing user privacy and security.
- The availability of in-app purchases for additional features, priced at $2.99 per item, offers users the flexibility to enhance their experience without being forced into a full premium version.
Cons
- The presence of ads may detract from the user experience, especially for those seeking a distraction-free environment for noise measurement, and could potentially lead to unintentional clicks.
- Some users might find the in-app purchase model to be somewhat aggressive, particularly if they feel that key features should be included in the base app without additional cost.
- The lack of detailed information about what each in-app purchase offers could lead to confusion or dissatisfaction among users, highlighting a need for clearer descriptions or a trial period.
- While the app is highly rated, some users have reported inconsistencies in measurements, which could be a concern for those requiring precise decibel readings for professional purposes.
Best for: The ideal user for Sound Meter is likely an individual who requires a straightforward, easy-to-use tool for measuring noise levels, such as a music enthusiast, a construction worker, or a healthcare professional, who values simplicity, accuracy, and privacy, and is willing to tolerate ads or consider in-app purchases for additional features.

Sound Meter users say on Google Play
A visual problem solver between apartment neighbors, this app is proving to be. I'm impressed and pleased to have it so readily available.
Nice. Easy to use. UI is clean and effective. No ads on 2.0. For calibration, set to -12 on s9 and -9 on N20U. if unable to capture loud noises, that's due to mic limits. The app is limited by the values generated by your phone's microphone. Also, app uses front mic nearest to you (next to usb-c port). cannot set mic.
It doesn't show more than 90db
the file history method for sound retrieval does nont work.
requires calibration on my phone to work properly. said 90db while i was quietly talking to my dog. i found another app that works as soon as i open it.
