About this app
Learn Latin proverbs, quotes and phrases with adaptive spaced repetition
Latin proverbs, quotes and common phrases appear throughout literature, science, philosophy and everyday language. Knowing these expressions helps you understand references in texts, recognize cultural connections and improve your general knowledge. This app provides a structured learning system designed for long-term retention rather than quick quiz memorization.
At the core is an adaptive spaced repetition system that adjusts review intervals based on your actual memory performance. If you recall a phrase after a longer interval than expected, the next interval increases. If you hesitate or answer incorrectly, the interval shortens without resetting your overall progress. This ensures that your study time focuses exactly on the expressions that still need reinforcement.
Two learning modes support different learning preferences. Multiple Choice enables quick rounds and is ideal for early recognition. Self-Assessment encourages active recall: you look at the Latin phrase, try to remember its meaning yourself, then judge whether you knew it, almost knew it or did not know it. This method is highly effective for building long-term memory.
Content is organized into clear sets covering a wide range of classical expressions. These include well-known proverbs, common sayings, memorable quotations and frequently used Latin phrases. Every card shows the original Latin wording and its translation. You can enable or disable sets freely and adjust the configuration at any time without losing progress.
Tests provide a transparent way to evaluate your knowledge. Each test presents all items in a selected set once and awards a silver or gold medal depending on your performance. Tests can be repeated whenever needed to track improvement clearly.
A full card browser is included, allowing you to review all phrases independently of learning sessions.
