ASCCP Management Guidelines v2.4
ASCCPAbout this app
The ASCCP Management Guidelines app solves the problem of providing healthcare professionals with easy access to the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology's (ASCCP) management guidelines, benefiting obstetricians, gynecologists, and other medical professionals who need to stay up-to-date on the latest cervical cancer screening and treatment recommendations. Compared to alternatives in the Medical category, this app stands out for its specialized focus and authoritative source, but may fall short in terms of breadth of coverage. With a high user rating of 4.5/5 and over 10,000 downloads, this app has established itself as a trusted resource in the medical community.
Pros
- The app's high user rating of 4.5/5 and significant download numbers demonstrate its effectiveness and popularity among medical professionals, indicating a high level of social proof.
- The app's specialized focus on ASCCP management guidelines provides a unique and valuable resource for healthcare professionals, setting it apart from more general medical apps.
- The developer's reputation as a trusted authority in the field of cervical cancer screening and treatment lends credibility to the app's content and recommendations.
- The app's lack of ads and in-app purchases ensures a distraction-free and unbiased user experience, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on the guidelines and recommendations without interruption.
Cons
- The app's relatively high price point of $14.99 may be a barrier for some users, particularly individual healthcare professionals or those in low-resource settings.
- The app's limited scope and focus on ASCCP management guidelines may not make it a comprehensive resource for all medical professionals, potentially requiring supplemental resources or apps.
- The lack of information about update frequency and whether the app will continue to be supported and updated in the future may be a concern for users who rely on the app for critical medical information.
Best for: The ideal user for this app is a healthcare professional, such as an obstetrician or gynecologist, who regularly cares for patients with cervical cancer or abnormal cervical screening results and needs to stay up-to-date on the latest ASCCP management guidelines to provide the best possible care.
Developer Description
ASCCP Management Guidelines- There’s an app for that!
ASCCP is pleased to offer this app to streamline navigation of the ASCCP Risk-Based Management Consensus Guidelines for abnormal cervical cancer screening tests and cancer precursors. The guidelines articles, as published in the Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease, as well as the comprehensive risk estimates, can be accessed through https://www.asccp.org/guidelines.
These evidence-based management guidelines, initially developed in 2019, came together through a consensus process of 19 organizations. The updated management guidelines aim to:
• Allow for a more complete and precise estimation of risk
• Provide more appropriate intervention for high-risk individuals (detect and treat more precancer)
• Recommend less intervention for low-risk individuals (decrease testing and treatment that won’t prevent cancer and may cause reproductive harm)
• Allow for the future addition of new risk modifiers and screening and management technologies
See https://www.asccp.org/UserGuide for tips on using the app.
Privacy
Given that the app requests no permissions, users can be confident that their data is not being collected or shared, and the app's functionality is not dependent on accessing sensitive information. However, users should still be cautious when using any medical app and ensure that they are using the most up-to-date version of the guidelines. To ensure optimal security, users should only download the app from trusted sources, such as the Play Store.
Tips
To get the most out of this app, users should start by familiarizing themselves with the app's navigation and layout, which allows for easy access to the guidelines and recommendations. Additionally, users can optimize the app's performance by ensuring their device is running the latest version of Android and by closing other resource-intensive apps while using the ASCCP Management Guidelines app. By following these tips, users can ensure a smooth and efficient user experience.

ASCCP Management Guidelines users say on Google Play
While the updated information is appreciated, the change in user interface is a step backward from the previous version, particularly when it comes to inputting findings after abnormal screening results, colposcopies, and excisional procedures. At best it is a functional quick reference for the algorithim cards.
I found the previous version a lot simpler to use. This one is counter intuitive and doesn't show a clear pathway.
Some recommendations don't line up with the ASCCP guidelines article. (See section j.4). It's a good tool to use in conjunction with knowing the guidelines well.
After a couple of weeks I had to download it again.
They updated the app by making a new app and without notification on the old app called (ASCCP MOBILE) that explains that the critical information there is out of date. That app doesn't even exist on the store now. Then they published another app that you're supposed to buy AGAIN. which will be out of date soon also and you'll never even notice. So unreliable. And what's the point of having a personalized app if you're not going to provide specific data instead just an algorithm.
