I ran some very quick oscilloscope tests and it can provide a sine wave 20-20kHz, accurate to 2SF, the third SF is +-1 of the true value. Do not use this app when charging. If you do there will be a rather lovely 50Hz signal overlaid on the output. At higher frequencies its not an issue, but at lower frequencies the interference is very noticable, and at an output ~50Hz produces a lovely beat frequency. Remember that your android device is not designed as a signal generator, therefore the output is not going to be as clean and perfect as a real signal generator. Different devices may produce different results. I recommend you test yours with an oscilloscope where possible.

Does pretty well. Although I'd like to have +/- buttons in addition to the frequency slider, it's a bit difficult to test my lower hearing range currently. I use a headset with an analog volume control, so loudness isn't a problem for me.

DONE WITH MY TEK 200MHz OSCILLOSCOPE, WITH A 100 OHM LOAD ON PHONE OUTS... I AM USING A NEXUS7 32G TABLET. 1. LOVE THE SIMPLICITY. 2. SINE WAVE VERY JITTERY, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH FREQS. 3. NOISES SEEM FINE... Good minimalistic approach, guys, but check out FuncGen (also free). Beats em all. And then, you can get AudioTool, but you pay... Probably good on phones to just generate pink noise into systems...or bother your friends. Keep up the work guys, can be better for us pros.

For some reason this app turns your phone media volume up to 100% regardless of setting and leaves it up after. I've been deafened a couple of times when I go to listen to music after.

The sine wave is semi accurate, plenty good for audio testing. But, the levels are not accurate. When hooked up to an oscope on my s3, -10db 1 khz signal only produced 150 mV pk when it should be 447 mV pk. This will undoubtedly differ with different phones, but an actual db reading shouldnt be used if it isnt accurate.
