NYT Cooking: Quick Tasty Meals users say on Google Play
The app has always been solid and I've liked the recipes a lot. But in a recent update they added the feature where you can search the recipe reviews which made it waaaay better, you can search for "vegan" or "gluten" or whatever and see if people have made succesful swaps. Super useful for NYT recipes which aren't usually written to accommodate dietary restrictions and where the top comments are usually adding meat to recipes with vegan in the title.
I've been actively using this site for 5 years. Loved that I could save a collection, but that is not an available feature anymore. Searching the comments is available (but won't work for me) on the phone app, and is not availabble the website. Tech support is great when I've had issues. Worth the money for the amazing recipes!
The new videos all over the browse page are so obnoxious. The search is fairly useless unless you search the exact recipe name. No dark mode. The browse page (should be called home page) only let's you browse categories they've thrown together, rather than having the ability to browse by general categories (meal type, protein, etc.).
Recipes are great, use them all the time, but the app is pointless? The UI is worse than using a mobile brower. No sidebar for what to cook/recipes/ingredients. No "cook mode" to keep the screen from turning off. Autoplaying videos in the recipes even with autoplay turned off (which apparently is only for the home tab). No dark mode, clicking on the author's name takes you to search instead of listing the recipes they have, etc. Only positive to the app is the metric beta test feature for baking
I paid for a subscription on Dec 7, 2025. It didn't work right away so I figured I'd give it until the next morning. It didn't work the next morning so I did some troubleshooting: log out/log in, uninstall/reinstall, restart device, look for updates, etc. That didn't work. I reached out to the Help Center who told me it was a Google Play issue. It wasn't. Tried the Help Center again & was told to report a bug. Now, another day has passed and I still can't access it. Sent 4 emails, no response.
