Teen Counseling v2.98
BetterHelp - Therapy Made EasyAbout this app
Developer Description
Get help from a counselor who understands you. Text, video, or phone.
HOW DO I START?
Invite your parent(s) to sign up. They fill out a consent form for you (required by law)
Once your parent subscribes, you will be matched with a licensed therapist and invited to your own therapy room
Your therapist will communicate with you on the Teen Counseling app using text, phone, and video
WHY DO I NEED PARENTAL CONSENT?
As required by law, a parent or legal guardian must fill out a consent form before you can receive online therapy services.
HOW DOES THERAPY WORK?
You and your therapist will get your own “room.”This will be your place to communicate with your therapist day or night. You can access this room from any internet connected device, wherever you are.
You can write about yourself, the things going on in your life, ask questions and discuss the challenges you’re facing. Your therapist will login to the same room and respond with feedback, insights and guidance.
Together you’ll work towards making a positive change in your life, accomplishing your goals and overcoming your troubles.
IS WHAT I SHARE WITH MY THERAPIST PRIVATE?
Your parent will not have access to this room. You can talk to your therapist about anything, but there are a few things that they would be required to share with either your parents or other adults. If you share any of the following issues with your therapist, they would have to break confidentiality for your protection or the protection of others:
• If you are seriously contemplating severely harming yourself or someone else.
• If you share with your therapist that you are being abused or neglected, or know of another individual under 18 who is being abused or neglected.
• If you share with your therapist that you know of an elderly person who is being abused or neglected.
Please consult with your therapist about what kind of information and updates your parent(s) may get regarding your work with your therapist.
WHO ARE THE THERAPISTS?
We require every Therapist providing services on the Platform to be an accredited, trained, and experienced licensed U.S. psychologist (PhD / PsyD), licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT), licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), licensed professional counselor (LPC), or similar applicable recognized professional certification based on their state and/or jurisdiction. Therapists must have a relevant academic degree in their field, at least 3 years of experience and at least 1,000 hours of hands-on experience.

My daughter typically has trouble connecting with professionals and even more so virtually but she has connected well with her therapist and is fully participating in the meetings. It's made a world of difference in her mood and the way she handles situations. She's only 4 weeks in and we are already noticing positive changes. I am thankful to have access to this service while we wait for local services.
nice app not bad only thing i have against it is that you cant just make the account urself u needa have a parent to make it with you. (you dont really need it but it adds a couple questions you gotta answer for the signup and thats abt it but still a little annoying) i dont really wanna involve my parents in this cud ion wanna put any extra burdens on her so if it was a little easier that would be nice.
Im really happy to see their approach in helping teens out there who are struggling with life problems.. however, I feel like the first therapy session should be free and helpful so that we know if we want to pay or not..
I don't understand why when someone is struggling with severe mental health issues you have to pay FOR AN APP like I was hoping I could talk to someone and possibly change myself to a better person but then it asks for your parents credit card
Guard your teenagers. After about a month of therapy payments and few sessions the therapist my daughter was matched with didn't seem to understand how to handle my daughter not wanting to turn on her light when she had a session after her great grandma's funeral (she was in the dark sad) the therapist called the teen disrespectful, freaked out and literally sent me as the parent and message out right quitting. These folks are not trained or certified in dealing with disrespectful teens Beware.
