About this app

Card Quest solves the problem of monotony in card games by offering a unique rogue-like experience with over a hundred hours of content, benefiting fans of strategy and deck-building games. Compared to alternatives in the Game Card category, Card Quest stands out with its vast content and lack of ads or in-app purchases, providing a distraction-free experience. However, its relatively high upfront cost and limited data on user engagement might deter some potential players. The app's ability to offer such extensive content without requiring any permissions is a notable advantage, suggesting a well-designed and respectful approach to user data.

Pros

  • With a user rating of 3.9/5 and over 50,000 downloads, Card Quest demonstrates a level of quality and social proof that is rare in paid card games, indicating a satisfying experience for most players.
  • The absence of ads and in-app purchases ensures a seamless gaming experience, free from interruptions or aggressive monetization tactics, which is a significant advantage for players seeking an immersive experience.
  • The developer's decision to offer the game as a paid, upfront purchase suggests a commitment to providing a complete and polished experience without nickel-and-diming players, which can foster trust and loyalty.
  • Card Quest's compatibility with Android 5.1 and later ensures that a wide range of devices can run the game, making it accessible to a broader audience and reducing the risk of compatibility issues.
  • The game's lack of permissions requests is a testament to the developer's respect for user privacy, as it suggests that the app does not collect or transmit sensitive data, providing an additional layer of security and trust.

Cons

  • The relatively high upfront cost of $5.99 might deter some potential players, especially those accustomed to free-to-play models or lower-priced games, which could limit the app's appeal to more casual or budget-conscious gamers.
  • The limited data available on the app's performance, user engagement, and post-launch support might raise concerns about the developer's ability to maintain and update the game over time, potentially affecting its long-term viability.
  • The game's content, while extensive, might not appeal to all types of card game enthusiasts, particularly those seeking multiplayer or more complex, competitive experiences, which could limit its appeal to a narrower audience.
  • The app's total lack of permissions might also mean that it lacks certain features or functionalities that other games in the category offer, such as cloud saves or online leaderboards, which could be a drawback for some players.

Best for: The ideal user for Card Quest is a strategy-oriented gamer aged 16-40 who enjoys card games, rogue-like experiences, and is willing to invest in a premium, ad-free experience with extensive content, and has a medium to high level of technical skill and familiarity with complex game mechanics.

Fantastic game! The variety of enemies and the minor details that went into giving some of same creatures different portraits (like the undead crawlers having a variety of poses) really endears me to playing. It can definitely be a little challenging, but there's a good sense of intermediate goals beyond just getting to the end of each "map", and you develop a feel for the different bosses as to what the best strategy is for taking them down over time.

This game can be brutally hard, one wrong move and you have to start all over. Can be a bummer when you're really looking to get an unlock for a class. But please god, the tutorials. They are so brutal. You can barely call them tutorials more like puzzles. Sometimes theres only one string of moves that can solve a tutorial stage and you gotta be planning like 20 turns ahead. Easily harder than the actual game???

I'm sure the game is great but there is just way too much stuff on the screen requiring the text to be very small. Maybe I'm getting old... Hopefully a redesign is planned.

The game is based WAY too much on RNG often making you get hit without a way around it. The tutorial is more of a messy puzzle section and the classes all have gimmicks that are fitting bht clunky. I have played a lot of card battlers and this one, unfortunately, feels like a chore to control. Not really recommended as I can't see this being fun even with fixes or updates, sorry.

Horrible, please make a tutorial that is actually clear and makes sense. Your mechanics are cloudy and your lack of explanations of them makes this very confusing. Looks like it could be fun, but your wizard tutorial is the worst I have ever seen in any roguelike card game.
