Safety tips v3.16.1
RC Solution Co.About this app
The Safety Tips app, developed by RC Solution Co., aims to notify users of disaster information issued in Japan, addressing a critical need for timely alerts during emergencies. This app is particularly beneficial for individuals living in or frequently visiting Japan, where natural disasters are common. Compared to other weather apps, Safety Tips stands out for its focus on disaster alerts, but its low user rating of 2.6/5 suggests significant issues with its functionality or user experience. The app's simple and ad-free design is a positive aspect, but its overall value is hindered by its limited features and low rating.
Pros
- With over 100,000 downloads, the Safety Tips app has achieved moderate social proof, indicating its potential usefulness to a sizable user base.
- The app's lack of permissions is a significant advantage, as it ensures that user data is not being collected or shared unnecessarily, enhancing the app's security and privacy.
- The app's simplicity and ad-free model contribute to a distraction-free user experience, allowing users to focus on critical disaster information.
- The developer, RC Solution Co., provides a clear website and email for customer support, offering a channel for users to report issues or seek help.
- The app's compatibility with Android 5.0 and above ensures that a wide range of devices can access its features.
Cons
- The Safety Tips app's low user rating of 2.6/5 raises concerns about its reliability, functionality, or user interface, which may deter potential users.
- The app's limited features, as implied by its simple description, may not fully meet the needs of users seeking comprehensive weather or disaster information.
- The lack of in-app purchases or a paid version may limit the app's ability to generate revenue, potentially impacting its long-term maintenance and update frequency.
- The app's focus on Japan-specific disaster information limits its usefulness for users in other regions, reducing its global appeal.
Best for: The ideal user for the Safety Tips app is an individual living in or frequently visiting Japan, with a need for timely and reliable disaster alerts, and who values a simple, ad-free, and privacy-conscious app design, likely including both Japanese residents and international travelers or expatriates in the region.

Safety tips users say on Google Play
So far, the app has worked well. Set up was easy and the information provided (how the alert systems work, translations for help, detailed history of previous events, etc) is useful and thorough. Hopefully we'll never have to "use" the app, but I'm reassured that I have a go-to resource should we ever need it.
For three days before the hurricane hit, I tried to use this app, but it refused to move past the "select your country of origin" screen and asked me to try again later. Now, the morning after, I just tried it again on a whim and it worked. Guys, I understand that you want to collect survey data, but maybe not being able to do that shouldn't make the app stop working and not give vital emergency information.
1. Please remove trackers such as Google Firebase Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. Or make it optional or for a payment. Having to block trackers in this app on DNS / firewall level sucks. 2. Please update the app to Material You design. As many apps here in Japan, it looks dates and so bloated. No need to throw everything at once, relevant info should be easily accessible and not among other features. 3. Why this app needs Get accounts permission?
Daily loud alarms about hot weather -- NOT useful! I installed this app a year ago so that I could stay informed about tornadoes and earthquakes when in Japan. Never had any alerts. But in July 2020 it suddenly started giving frequent LOUD alarms about hot weather, even though it isn't actually particularly hot. Also, under the medical section it contains no mention of covid, which would seem a greater safety concern than normal summer weather... Uninstalling...
The app doesn't work as of 9/14/2018. After launching the app and trying to choose language, it crashes. Tried multiple languages but it still crashes and doesn't continue to setup. Using Google Pixel 2 smartphone with Android 9 Pie. This app would be very useful as I live in Japan and all alerts come in Japanese and in an emergency it's difficult to try and translate into English.
