GlassWire Data Usage Monitor v3.0.396r
Domotz IncAbout this app
Developer Description
Protection from data usage overages, bandwidth wasting apps, and more!
Instantly see what apps are slowing your phone’s Internet connection or wasting your mobile data.
Key features
• GlassWire’s data alerts keep you under your data limit and save you money on your monthly phone bill. Get alerted before you reach your carrier data limit to avoid overage fees.
• See a graph of which apps are currently using your mobile carrier data or Wi-Fi Internet connection.
• Instantly know every time a new app accesses the network and begins using Wi-Fi or mobile data.
• Swipe right to go back in time to see which apps used mobile data earlier in the week or month. See past Wi-Fi or mobile usage by day or month.
• Go to GlassWire's "Data Plan" screen to set up zero-rated apps that won't have their data usage counted against your data plan. GlassWire can also keep track of roaming, and roll-over minutes. Create a data usage widget.
• Check GlassWire’s Speed Meter on its notification bar to quickly see real-time data usage.
• Help protect your privacy and reveal suspicious app activity through GlassWire’s graph.
• Block apps from connecting to the network, or allow or deny new connections before they start with GlassWire’s mobile firewall. Create multiple firewall profiles, one for mobile and one for WiFi.
• Have an unlimited plan? Unfortunately, most ‘unlimited’ plans will throttle you (slow & limit your connection) once you user a certain amount of data. GlassWire can alert you when you start to get throttled.

Where phone brands fail, GlassWire succeeds - giving control back to the device owner. It's quite scary, and disappointing, to learn that modern phone brands do little to inform the user regarding the startling amount of constant background data-streams via installed/embedded applications; it's hard justify why most apps would need to do this. It's a great relief to see a large list of network activities (that I had no idea about) slowly become firewalled off, down to a select few.
Edit: For reasons I can't begin to fathom yet will not begin to question (that recent update, perhaps?), my issue with GlassWire crashing while its firewall was active has seemingly resolved itself after simply keeping the firewall off for a week or so. Not that I'm complaining—gift horses, and all that. Otherwise, I've had no issues before and outside of that; Glasswire does what it says on the tin, and does it well. Definitely get it if you haven't already.
After latest update, for some reason, it keeps stopping/crashing frequently, and disables Firewall once restarted. I hope dev look into this since Firewall is the reason I installed it. OG Review: It does what's expected of a data monitoring app, with minimal permissions and doesn't ask for a large number of permissions. Only criticism is, it needs more themes, including dark backgrounds, and custom text colors. But that's a cosmetic requirement. The core functionality of the app still gets 5/5.
I have used this for many years and it was great, now it shuts down at least twice a day. let's apps that I have blocked connect to the Internet. this never happened before. now I'm looking for a new one. this just isn't working good enough to keep me safe anymore .. that is a sad fact that I wish was not true ..
Continually crashing in Android 16, and the firewall stops working, on Samsung. & when re-opened, even when locked open, the Firewall switches OFF. Constantly losing firewall, considering canceling my premium if not fixed.
