Very good app. Have been a loyal subscriber for years. Has eliminated many times the need to search for a climbing / book store on site and enabled finding a crag on the go as plans change. The limitation is that the app does not include all the crags in the world and routes in some crags are only partially described giving wrong impression on the size of the crag. I assume that as time goes by the app becomes even wider and deeper.
This app is great! My only complaint is that when you are searching through boulders in the list format, if you click on a boulder and check it out, when you go back it doesnt take you back to where you were on the list. For example if want to check out boulders in a particular grade, I need to go back and then select list again and the select filter grade high to low, the find where I was on the list. Might seem minor but makes checking out a new venue quite slow and annoying.
Whilst the app look and intuitive nature of how to use it is good. I found it frustrating that most of the information for the French climbing I was doing was in French. Whilst I speak good french my written french isn't good, which put me off subscribing to the app properly. Plus the details on each boulder was non existent even though the option was there. It's so rare to find a good climbing app and this is almost there.
I want to like this app and it can be useful but it's way too expensive... a subscription service for this app makes no sense as most people use it on vacation and then don't need it the rest of the year. Who wants to pay monthly for an app they only use occasionally? It was better when you could just purchase the areas you wanted. Also it freezes often and the map feature zooms out constantly.
I've been using 27 crags for years and it was a great app. Sadly that's no longer the case, the new update is just plain bad. There's no need to overhaul something that is working well. The app is slow and often just doesn't work. Also, a feature I used to use a lot was the map view when trying to find new boulders, this is just gone. No idea if it was removed or it is just hidden somewhere. Overall I'm very disappointed in the new app. I'll be switching back to using a plain old guidebook.
