Engross: ADHD Focus Timer v12.1.0
Engross AppsAbout this app
Engross: ADHD Focus Timer addresses the issue of time management and productivity for individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), providing a comprehensive toolset that includes a focus timer, to-do list, and app blocker to help users stay on track. This app benefits individuals who struggle with time blindness and need structured assistance to maintain focus. Compared to other productivity apps, Engross stands out with its specialized features tailored for ADHD, though its effectiveness may vary depending on individual user needs. Its high user rating and moderate download numbers indicate a well-received solution within the productivity category.
Pros
- With a user rating of 4.3 out of 5 and over 500,000 downloads, Engross demonstrates a high level of user satisfaction and social proof, indicating its effectiveness for many users.
- The app's feature set, including a focus timer, to-do list, and app blocker, provides a comprehensive approach to managing time and staying focused, making it a valuable tool for those with ADHD.
- The absence of ads and minimalistic monetization strategy through in-app purchases suggests a user-centric approach, reducing potential distractions and enhancing the overall user experience.
- The developer's active engagement, as indicated by regular updates and a dedicated support email, shows a commitment to improving and maintaining the app, which is crucial for users relying on it for daily productivity.
- The app's requirement of zero permissions is a significant advantage, ensuring that users' data privacy is respected and minimizing potential security risks.
Cons
- One concern is the potential for the app's in-app purchases to become a financial burden for users who may rely heavily on additional features to manage their ADHD, though the prices are relatively modest.
- The effectiveness of the app can vary significantly from user to user, depending on individual needs and the severity of ADHD symptoms, which might lead to some users finding it less helpful than others.
- The lack of detailed information on how user data is handled, despite the app requiring no permissions, might raise some privacy concerns for highly sensitive users, though the developer's transparency in other areas is reassuring.
- For some users, the app's focus on ADHD might make it less versatile compared to more general productivity apps, limiting its appeal to a broader audience.

Developer Description
Beat time blindness. An ADHD focus timer, to-do & app blocker to stay in flow.
Do you struggle with executive dysfunction, time blindness, or the constant "procrastination loop"? Engross isn’t just another productivity app—it’s a dedicated workspace designed to help you work with your brain, not against it.
By combining a Pomodoro-inspired Focus Timer with a Progressive To-Do List and App Blocker, Engross provides the external structure needed to initiate tasks, sustain attention, and finally finish what you start.
🧠 Why Engross is Different for ADHD: Most apps assume you’re already organized. Engross assumes you’re overwhelmed. Our unique ‘Hit me when you are distracted’ button is a science-backed mindfulness tool. It doesn't just track time; it helps you build the "focus muscle" by gently pulling your brain back to the present moment without the guilt.
⏱️ Core Features for Deep Work:
Combat Time Blindness
• Flexible Pomodoro Timer: Customize work and break intervals to fit your energy cycles (up to 180-minute sessions).
• Visual Time Tracking: Use the Stopwatch or Timer to make time "tactile," helping you transition between tasks without the usual panic.
• Integrated Sessions: Start a timer directly from your To-Do list. No friction, no app-switching, just focus.
• Session Tagging: Tag sessions with labels and keep track of where your time goes.
End Task Paralysis
• Progressive To-Do List: Don't just list tasks—track them with a progress tracker. Break big, scary projects into small, "dopamine-friendly" sub-tasks.
• Flexible Recurring Tasks: Set reminders for "alternate days" or "twice a week" to fit your actual routine, not a rigid 9-to-5.
• Smart Reminders: Get notified up to 24 hours in advance to prep your brain for upcoming transitions.
Silence the Digital Noise
• App Whitelist: Automatically block distracting apps (Social Media, Games) the moment your timer starts.
• Focus White Noise: Built-in ambient sounds to help you enter a "Flow State" instantly and drown out environmental distractions.
📅 A Planner That Actually Works
• Zero-Overwhelm Calendar: Plan your day from morning coffee to deep work blocks in a neat, simple interface.
• Routine Builder: Create recurring events to automate your habits and reduce the cognitive load of "deciding" what to do next.
📊 Visual Progress & Insights
• Dopamine-Friendly Analytics: See your focus trends and peak performance times through 7 detailed charts.
• Session History: Understand exactly where your time goes and celebrate the "Deep Work" hours you’ve reclaimed.
Perfect for:
• Students: Crush assignments and study for exams without the last-minute panic.
• Remote Workers & Freelancers: Create structure in a flexible world and track client hours with ease.
• The Neurodivergent Community: A low-clutter, high-support tool for ADHD and executive function challenges.
Stop managing your time. Start mastering your focus. Join thousands of users who use Engross to beat procrastination and get things done, one session at a time.

Privacy
Given that Engross requires zero permissions, the risk of data collection for malicious purposes is significantly minimized. However, users should still be cautious about any data they voluntarily input into the app, such as to-do lists or focus goals, and consider the privacy implications of using any cloud syncing features that may be offered. Regularly reviewing the app's privacy policy and terms of service is also advisable.
Tips
To get the most out of Engross, users should start by setting realistic focus goals and gradually adjusting the timer and to-do list features to fit their productivity patterns. Utilizing the app blocker feature during focus sessions can significantly reduce distractions, and exploring the in-app purchases can provide additional tools tailored to individual needs. Regularly reviewing progress and adjusting settings can help in optimizing the app's effectiveness.

Absolutely love this app, this is the first one I paid for. There's two problems though problem, one, it doesn't sync my custom quotes across devices. Two, I use this app on a Chromebook, and the entire UI in full screen is just so spaced out, the clock is off to the left side, and it doesn't at all utilise the amount of space there is. Both of these should be easy enough for you to fix 👍
feature suggestion : 1. multiple tags or labels for one task 2. timer for sub task 3. search bar for completed and incomplete task 4. increase the word limit in details option
when we end stopwatch....the question asked are very colourful and make it simple....and please give tutorial after installing the app...it took me a while to understand but it very good tho.... 👍
I used to love this app and use it daily but since the last update it opens to the timer as the main screen, even when setting changed to todo list. I Uninstalled and deleted my account and then reinstalled reinstalled and it still does it.
hey, I liked the app much at the start but now it's not even working properly there's only one sound available free and now it doesn't work ..the sound stops in between and no sound of timer is completed! I have to check again and again and I don't even show the timer window on the lock screen also please look into this matter. that's the reason for only 1 star
