Google Voice is a very simple SMS texting but need updating to RCS to be able to react on a comment with an emoji when someone sends a text. It's 2026, please update this feature to be in line with other messaging platforms. i.e. FB messenger, WhatsApp, Standard phone messaging app, etc.

Keeps asking to link a number. I don't have a number, so F off. The only way to stop that nagware behavior is to turn off automatic updates in the Playstore. It nags when it updates.

update Jan 2026: the app has decided that i must use picture in picture mode if opening from a toast/popup notification of a message to reply. i do not, ever, want this. most other apps give me the explicit ability to turn this off, but for some reason voice no longer has the toggle.
