US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)About this app
Developer Description
Audio exercises, a self-guided training program, & resources to support practice
Mindfulness Coach 2.0 was developed to help Veterans, Service members, and others learn how to practice mindfulness. The app provides a gradual, self-guided training program designed to help you understand and adopt a simple mindfulness practice. Mindfulness Coach also offers a library of information about mindfulness (for example “What is Mindfulness?”, “How to Anchor Your Attention”), 12 audio-guided mindfulness exercises and a growing catalog of additional exercises available for free download, goal-setting and tracking, a mindfulness mastery assessment to help you track your progress over time, customizable reminders, and access to other support and crisis resources. Mindfulness Coach is free, doesn’t take or share any of your personal information, and doesn’t require add-on purchases.
Mindfulness Coach was created by VA’s National Center for PTSD.

Mindfulness Coach users say on Google Play
This free app is a service to those wanting to practice and learn mindfulness. It is reliable - it sticks to exercises that have demonstrated effectiveness. The audio is clear and simple. The information on exercises is concise and relevant. Tools are included that enable tracking of exercises completed and to encourage the user to keep using the app for mindfulness practice.
If you're interested in being more present, aware, and calm, this app will help. You'll build on your practice by adding novel tools to your belt. I recommend the iRest program whether you're new to meditation or a seasoned practitioner. One frustration I have is that when I download a programs, it adds all the sessions to the same folder, losing their structure an order. I want to keep the programs' sessions in their appropriate folders so that I can follow them in order.
Very Helpful in terms of guided meditation and tracking notes for sessions. What it doesn't do well however is manage reminders. There is a drift over time. So alerts set for 7:00 each day or week will trigger eventually at 9:00pm, then midnight, etc. It's poor coding and mars an otherwise useful app.
The content does not fit in well with Christian beliefs. My occupational therapist had me download this app as part of my mental health treatment. I don't want to do it but have to. I find it conflicting.
