AndExplorer is a file manager/explorer. It allows browsing files/folders stored on device and sdcard. It can sort by name, size and date. Copy/Paste, rename, delete, create folder, send/share features are available. It is able to uncompress ZIP, GZIP and TAR files too. Encrypted (password protected) ZIP archives supported. No permission other than storage/write one needed. No ads. AndExplorer can be called from another application with Intent facilities.

One of my issues I have with other file browsers is the fact that they ask for a bunch of permissions to be installed. This app while doesn't look the best, works flawlessly without invading privacy

Does almost all file management tasks, including on external sd card, with very few permissions and no ads, which are huge +'s in my book. Simple and intuitive to use, though you need to be careful as the selection checks are not very visible - it could do with the check marks being to the left of the file icons, not superimposed over them. The icons would benefit from being larger. These are quibbles though, all-in-all a great file manager. Android 4.2.2
