Developer Description
The official app for BIKETOWN — Portland’s bike share system
BIKETOWN consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable electric bikes that can be locked at any BIKETOWN station or bike rack throughout the city. Bike share is a greener, healthier way to get around — whether you’re commuting, running errands, meeting friends, or exploring in a new city.
The BIKETOWN App gives you access to hundreds of bikes in your area — unlock and pay directly from the app and get going.
The BIKETOWN App also shows upcoming public transit departures, including train lines, local buses, and streetcars.
Within the app, you can either purchase an annual BIKETOWN membership or single rides.
Happy riding!

Biketown For All is awesome! Thank you!
This is a very greatly convenient and affordable way to help people creatively move thru the metro area and avoid always driving and using excessive carbon. I especially appreciate the availability they have made to SNAP recipients at free and reduced pricing because it makes transportation affordable for low income peoples. My only complaint is that it would be nice to have the service area extend out to the East County area with lock stations available along the max corridor.
Update: Things have improved a bit since my last post. They keep their customer service number somewhat hidden on their website, once I was able to locate it, a lot of my issues were easier to resolve. I had a bike that wouldn't lock and I was charged until the bike ran out of battery. several attempts to contact customer service had no response.
Not the most honest of bike rentals. They have a policy of charging $25 if you PARK your bike in a designated no parking zone. Seems reasonable as they would have to send someone to retrieve it. However, on multiple occasions, I've had the bike randomly shut off inside a no parking zone mid-ride. You're charged when it shuts itself off, and then have to check out again to finish your trip. Support has waived this a few times, but won't acknowledge the issue, and says they won't fix again.
Over and over again I get charged an extra $1 despite parking in a station (out of station parking fee), and the bike even pops up in the app afterwards as in the station. Support is nonresponsive. For whatever genius reason Portland gave the contract to Lyft to manage these bikes, prices skyrocketed & quality sucks. At least the old bikes were cheap. I suppose biketown is the best of all bad options, so if you need transport for 1 person, it's an option.
