DS video users say on Google Play
A first rate media library app for your Synology NAS. Not the easiest app to set up (it requiers some tech skills - although nothing that can't be aquired with a bit of time & effort... if you're savvy enough to configure your NAS, you're good to go)... Beats Plex easily... EDIT: For those having problems playing some media formats, & for those users having 3rd party player issues (this fixes either or both problems), a media player that does not require or use codecs, should be installed on your Android TV device... the best, & most widely used app, is VLC Player. You should uninstall your current 3rd party player, if DS Video keeps auto-selecting it, when you try to play media through VLC as your 3rd party player.
I enjoy using it and have it setup on my TV and tablets. Stream all of our local content and have the option for hardware transcoding when needed. I don't really use it to stream outside my house though so i can't comment on that. I have used the offline mode a couple times and it worked fine. Occasionally has issues logging out on its own, and then refreshing certificates whenever my let's encrypt renews, but overall it works well for my family and me.
All in all, it's a solid package but the Android TV app's search function is broken
DS Video for Android tv is really outdated. Latest update was from 2019. Been waiting an update for ages!
this is garbage. it will not play most of the new format movies. it requires to install external video player. unbelievable
